New Album 'Baralku' Out Now!
BARALKU OUT NOW

‘Baralku’ is a mythological spirit island in the Milky Way upon which departed souls build fires to let their loved ones know they arrived safely in the afterlife. I was moved by the imagery of this concept as it relates to my life and the creative process. Music takes me to places, and each song is a spirit island on which its soul lives infinitely. To release a song is both a death and a birth at the same time. The sounds contained in each song have reached the end of their life process. The once shapeshifting collage of expression has been crystallized into a final form, no longer kinetic. Yet it exists in a state of permanent potential energy, waiting to be accessed in the form of music, just as the memory of a departed soul will always have the power to move us. – Doug Appling (Emancipator)
Emancipator Ensemble at Red Rocks

Honored to announce this major milestone in the journey of Emancipator. On August 27, 2017 we will close our own show at the best venue on the planet for the very first time. It’s been years in the making and we couldn’t be happier to share the stage with Opiuo Live Band, RJd2 (w/ Live Band) and Machinedrum who are all amazing and inspiring musicians. We’ll be focusing all our energy to make this a memorable night for all, and hope you’ll join us on our most ambitious venture to date.
A limited number of fan club tickets (lowest fees) are on sale now until they run out. General on sale is this Friday at 10AM MT. See you on the rocks!

SPOTIFY / BANDCAMP / ITUNES / VINYL
Ten years ago, I released “Soon It Will Be Cold Enough” on CD-Rs, biking to the post office a few times a week to send out whatever orders trickled in through the Paypal address I had posted on Myspace. Somehow it reached the ears of iconic Japanese hip-hop producer Nujabes and was released on his label, Hydeout Productions. In addition to giving the album a professional mixdown, Nujabes suggested a new tracklist that omitted two songs, “Maps” and “Father King.” As a special nod to the ten year anniversary of my first album and these two lost tracks which are still dear to me and many of my listeners, I’ll be releasing a special Maps & Father King EP on November 11th with both tracks remastered and remixed by four different producers. I’m very excited to give new life to these songs in the form of this special release which will be available on vinyl as well as all the usual digital platforms. More info, sneak peaks of the remixes, and vinyl pre-order coming soon.
