'Dusk to Dawn' Deluxe Anniversary Edition
I’m excited to share four unreleased songs with you as part of the 11th anniversary deluxe reissue of Dusk to Dawn. These songs mark the end of an era in my music production process. They are some of my last compositions made in Acid Pro before I made the leap to Ableton where it took years to develop as fluent a workflow. These tracks were slated to be on Dusk to Dawn until deadlines and perfectionism resulted in their omission from the album. Even if I had access to the source files now I wouldn’t change them, so I present them to you as is, timestamps of where I was creatively at the time and artifacts of the technology used in the process. I hear elements of my early work as well as foreshadowing of what was to come. These songs are like old friends to me and it means a lot to be able to share them with you. The first two “Stonewall” and “Last Cause” are out today and two more will be released with the full deluxe version on February 18th!

Mountain of Memory Out Now!
In a time like this, we all need some new music to lift our spirits. I am very excited to present you ‘Mountain of Memory’. Hope you enjoy the album & I cannot wait to see you all on tour!

Mountain of Memory’s 14 free-flowing tracks effortlessly encapsulate his entire musical history without sounding forced or overly complicated: Mid-tempo dance grooves, solid boom bap hip-hop beats and calm, reflective tempos blend with electric and acoustic guitars, classical violin, Indian dilruba, cimbaloms, finger snaps, symphonic strings, bubbling water, Latin and African hand drumming, music boxes, Baroque flutes and opera singers, who add unexpected vocal ornamentations to accent certain melodic phrases. Underlying it all, is the bed of sound Appling produces using electric pianos, ethereal synthesizer washes, processed and almost inaudible vocals, soothing ambient textures and the pulsing of an infinite heartbeat produced by electronic bass tones.

“Listeners will probably notice that it shares a lot in common with the original Emancipator vibe, It has a quest-like, adventurous spirit and reflects that part of the hero’s journey toward enlightenment. Musically, this song went through many forms over the years. It felt like I was building a labyrinth of melodies that I would have to produce my way out of, and here we are with the finished track.” – Emancipator
Emancipator Ensemble will also be kicking off the ‘Mountain of Memory Tour’ this Spring.

'Baralku' Tour Live

Acclaimed electronic music producer and instrumentalist Emancipator returns with a live album featuring songs from his highly celebrated catalog, including a focus on songs from his latest studio album ‘Baralku’. Recorded live on his 2018 tour, ‘Baralku Tour Live’ embodies the progression from studio to live, fusing the bands organic electronic sound with the audience’s energy and presence. Featuring the full Emancipator Ensemble – Doug Appling (Emancipator), Ilya Goldberg (Violin/Viola), Colby Buckler (Drums), Peter Thatch (Bass), Asher Fuller (Keys), the live album expands on Emancipator’s original compositions, offering fans a unique chance to hear re-imagined versions with all the spontaneous brilliance and rawness of a live performance intact.
'Cheeba Gold' EP Out Now!

Emancipator & 9 Theory’s new Cheeba Gold EP is available everywhere today!
Completed in only four days, Cheeba Gold merges Emancipator and 9 Theory’s individual styles into a hypnotic hybrid that blurs sonic boundaries and cultural borders. Reflecting on the dynamic nature of their collaboration, Appling says, “We got together with the idea of making one song and based on how fluid that process was, we decided to make an EP.” “We are both very knowledgeable of recording, editing, and mixing with Ableton Live, and we both are able to play real instruments, so we were constantly going back and forth on everything,” adds Lehner. “This also created an atmosphere where we could move quickly and bang out an entire song in a day.”

Very excited to announce that I have a new collaborative EP with 9 Theory, coming 3/22! We’re also stoked to present you with the first single, “Chameleon,” available everywhere today!
Gabe (9 Theory) & I share a lot of musical common ground in the realm of instrumental beats. We have similar influences and intuition so it was easy to develop the sound. We got together with the idea of making one song and based on how fluid that process was, we decided to make a full EP.
“Chameleon” contains a few different chapters that are all based on the same groove. The title might have something to do with the idea of shapeshifting surface forms as well as a nod to that magnificently mysterious old world lizard. It also happens to be the brand of cold brew I was drinking at the time!
You can stream // download “Chameleon” today via the links above and also pre-save the EP, Cheeba Gold, on Spotify so that you have first access on release day! Hope you enjoy!!
